In August, Bashir Gemayel, senior commander of the "Phalangists" Christian militia, was elected. While giving a speech in East Beirut, Gemayel was killed by a massive explosive charge. In September, the Christian forces massacred all occupants of the Sabra & Shatila refugee camps in Beirut. An estimation of 3000 men, women, the elderly and children, were all killed with horrific cruelty.

The two men conclude that there's a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early 80s. Ari is surprised that he can't remember a thing anymore about that period of his life. Intrigued by this riddle, he decides to meet and interview old friends and comrades around the world.
